Extraordinary And Inspiring Things About The Universe

Long before the Earth was known to be round or scientists had discovered the solar system, humanity nurtured an innate fascination with space. Well-documented on cave walls, religious writings, and in numerous historical texts are studies of the universe from Earth’s earliest civilizations. While some believed the sun and moon were gods, others simply took comfort in the patterns among the stars (constellations) and in a magical power beyond their understanding. And who among us has not had the urge to know what’s over the next hill? What child has not been drawn to explore beyond the familiar streets of the neighborhood?

Planet Hunters TESS

The recently launched Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is providing us with a huge amount of data that lets us look for planets outside of our own Solar System, including planets that could support life. With your help, we are going to find planets that will help us understand how these extrasolar systems form and evolve over time. The results may even bring us closer to answering the question that we all want to answer: Are we alone in the Universe?
